Marie Ratzlaff – Metz Mortuary

    Marie R. Ratzlaff, 99, of North Newton, Kan., formerly of Henderson, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 in North Newton.

    She was born June 10, 1916 in rural Stockham to Dietrich D. and Mary (Janzen) Friesen.

    Marie was united in marriage to Dietrich P. Ratzlaff on June 9, 1936 in Henderson. The union was blessed with six children.  

    Marie was formerly a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson and currently belonged to Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry, baking and cooking. She also loved to garden and while living in Henderson, she belonged to the Garden Club.

    Left to cherish her memory are five sons, Neal (Debra) Ratzlaff of Omaha, Randy (Donna) Ratzlaff of Henderson, Steve (Lynette) Ratzlaff of Fresno, Calif., Keith (Treva Reimer) Ratzlaff of Pella, Iowa and Craig (Carol) Ratzlaff of Aurora; one daughter, Jeanne (Vernon) Dreier of Hesston, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Janzen of Reedley, Calif.; nieces, nephews and friends.

    Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Izen Ratzlaff and two brothers Dietrich and Wilbur Friesen.

    Graveside services will be held at 9:15 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Bethesda Cemetery in Henderson. A Memorial Service will follow at 10 a.m. at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Metz Mortuary, Henderson.  The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening. Memorials may be directed to the MCC.  ​
