Marlyce Ann Reed, age 92 of York, NE died on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at York. She was born February 2, 1932 to Ludwig N. and Elsie (Anderson) Widga in Stromsburg, NE. Marlyce was united in marriage to Berthal “Bert” Reed on May 12, 1952 at the First United Methodist Church in York.
Marlyce was the assistant County Clerk in York County during her working years and later was a clerk at Kopsa Otte Associates. She was a member of York PEO Chapter A and a member of the First United Methodist Women. She enjoyed sewing, playing bridge, and bowling, but most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter Tracey (Steven) Sieck of York; grandson Dustin (Ashely) Vaught and their children: Kiyah, Kael, and Tarynn of Cameron, MO; grandson Heath Vaught (Hannah Ingold) and children: Kolten, Harlee, and Kiannah Vaught, and Hazel Ingold of York; grandson Adrian (Anastasia) Vaught and their daughters Hazel and Sarenity of York; sister-in-law Geraldine Reed of Lincoln, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bert in December 9, 2021, son Jay, great grandson Rory Vaught, one brother, and five sisters.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, August 30, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in York. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Marlyce has been cremated and there will be no viewing, however there will be visitation and signing of her book from 1-8 pm on Thursday, with family greeting friends from 6-7:30 pm that evening at the mortuary.
Memorials may be directed to Nebraska Children’s Home Society or to the First United Methodist Church Foundation in York.
