Mary Ann Thoman, age 75 of York, NE passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026 in York. She was born November 10, 1950 in Fremont, NE to Delbert and Dorathy Leota (Dames) Legband. Mary graduated from Benedict High School in 1969. She also earned a Dietary Manager Certificate from SCC.
Mary will be remembered for her many hobbies, including crafting, puzzles, cooking, and gardening. She was a longtime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica. Mary’s greatest treasure was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Sonja Thoman of Falls City, NE, Tony and wife Jodi Thoman of York and Angela and husband Tim King of Lincoln, NE. Grandchildren: Bryce Thoman and fiancé Megan Leetch of Burwell, NE, Alicia Thoman of Utica, and Skylar King of Lincoln. Great grandson Rowen Thoman of Burwell. Also surviving is her brother Kenny Petersen of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald Thoman, sisters Deanna, Betty, Darlene and her brothers, Gail and Duane.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2026 at the Metz Chapel in York. Inurnment will follow in the Utica Cemetery in Utica, NE. In accordance to Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no viewing. Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church and School or to the family for later designation.
