    Maynard Reece Matlock
    Maynard R. Matlock, age 81, of Thayer, NE, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 in Lincoln, NE.  He was born June 22, 1933 in rural Lushton, NE to Jewell and Katherine (Kleinholz) Matlock.  He was united in marriage to Rosemary Lindner on August 9, 1958 at York, NE.  Maynard owned and operated Matlock Repair in Thayer for 44 years, an occupation he truly loved.  He loved his job fixing cars and trucks and whatever came through the shop doors.  He was dedicated to his work, and it was his hobby too, along with driving Miss Rosie.  Maynard was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family, customers and friends.   He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica.

    Survivors include his wife Rosemary of Thayer; children: Rodney Matlock and wife Patricia of Thayer, Alana and husband Bob Barth of Lincoln, David Matlock and friend Sherry Peeks of Thayer, Amy Jo Matlock and friend Dennis Gruehner of Phillips, NE, Billie and husband David Flick of Thayer, Sheri and husband Dan Price of York; Bob Matlock and wife Donna of Elkhorn, NE; and daughter-in-law, Darla Matlock of Thayer; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  Maynard is also survived by his loving dog Benji. 

    Also surviving are three brothers:  Harlan Matlock of Laughlin, NV, Gary Matlock and wife Billie and Francis Matlock and wife Tammy of York; two sisters:  Jerlene and husband Morris Nielsen of Stromsburg, NE and LuVerne and husband Joey Jensen of York. 

    Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra Sue; grandson, Joseph Matlock; and brother Delbert.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica with the Reverends Jon Dunbar and Lee Seetin officiating.  Interment will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. 

    Visitation will be from 1-9 pm Saturday and Sunday at the mortuary.  The family will greet friends Sunday evening from 6:30-8:00 pm.  Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
