    Mildred M. Cavender age 93 of York, NE died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at York.
    She was born April 7, 1918 at Lenox, IA to Lester and Gertrude Hunt.
    Mildred was employed at the Iowa School for the Deaf and then at Epworth Village as a secretary for many years.  She was a member of the Eagles and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Mildred loved to go fishing, camping, and playing cards with her friends. She also loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
    On October 24, 1969 she was married to DeWayne P. Cavender at York.
    She is survived by her two sons: LaWayne and his wife Anita Beery of Longmont, CO and Ted and his wife Joann Beery of Minatare, NE, her two step daughters: Jeanette Schinzel of Stromsburg, NE and Denise and her husband Barry Morris of Vail, AZ; 17 Grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Darlene Johnson of Malvern, IA.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother Harold, her sister Doris and two step sons; James Cavender and Daniel Cavender.
    Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Metz Chapel in York with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery west of Benedict. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday evening with her family greeting friends from 5-7 at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family.
