Owen L. Bedient – Metz Mortuary

Owen L. Bedient, age 93, of Aurora, NE, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Aurora.  He was born June 26, 1921 at Arborville, NE to Harold and Myrtle (Green) Bedient and was a 1939 graduate of Polk High School.   He joined the Army in 1942 and served in Italy during WWII.  He was discharged in 1947 and later that year was married to Evelyn Mason on October 12, 1947 at Clarks, NE. Owen farmed and raised cattle in the Polk area.  He delivered seed corn and also delivered the Trade & Transactions.  He enjoyed attending music festivals, square dancing, and playing cards and dominos.   

Left to cherish his memory are three sons, Robert Bedient of York, NE, Richard Bedient of Lincoln, NE, and Brian Bedient of Polk, NE; one daughter Teresa (John) O’Brien of Bellevue, NE; grandchildren, Molly O’Brien of Omaha, NE, Erin O’Brien (Jeremy Bilow) of Houston, TX, Matt O’Brien of Bellevue, Kevyn (Josh) Piper of York, Adam (Ashley) Bedient of Osborne, KS, Katie (Grant) Quiring of York, and Jordan Bedient of York; 5 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are his sister, Dorothy Masters of York; brothers, Marlin Bedient of Harwich, MA and Kent Bedient of York; special friend Cindy Bedient of York; and a host of friends.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Ann; wife; brothers, Fred and Carl; and sister, Rose.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 16, 2015 at the United Church of Christ , 7 Arborville Road, Arborville, NE,  with Pastor Jim Garfield officiating.   Inurnment will be in the Arborville Cemetery.  The family will greet friends Friday, one hour prior to the service.  Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
