Pauline E. Friesen – Metz Mortuary

    Pauline E. Friesen, 93, of Henderson, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 in Aurora. She was born Nov. 28, 1920 at rural Henderson to Bernhard and Margaretha (Epp) Friesen.

    Pauline and Howard E. Friesen were united in marriage on Dec. 13, 1942 at Henderson. Their union was blessed with four sons, Dale, Delmar, DeWayne and Dean and three daughters, Elaine, Carolyn and LaDonna. Pauline and Howard lived in Henderson for 38 years and had shared 64 years together when Howard died in 2006.  

    Pauline worked at the Dutch Kitchen and Dell’s Restaurant as a cook and for 12 years she was the head cook at Henderson Community School. Following her retirement from the school, she began babysitting.

    Pauline is survived by sons, Dale (Judy) Friesen of Fayetteville, Ark., Delmar (Ardenna) Friesen of Aurora, DeWayne (Sue) Friesen of Lincoln, Dean (Kathy) Friesen of DeSota, Iowa; daughters, Elaine (Gary) Hansen of Overland Park, Kan., Carolyn Rice of Lincoln, and LaDonna (Bob) Barnett of Katy, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

    Graveside services will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at Bethesda Cemetery in Henderson followed by memorial services at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Mennonite Church. Visitation will be 1-9 a.m. Friday at Metz Mortuary in Henderson with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. that evening.

    Memorials may be directed to Memorial Community Care in Aurora or the church.
