    Peggy Matzner
     Peggy Joyce Matzner, age 82, of York, NE, died Thursday, February 4, 2021 at York. She was born July 2, 1938 in Lushton, NE to William and Irma (Joy) Dearing. Peggy worked for several years as a Math Aid at York Public Schools, and also at York Motor Company. On March 24, 1957, she was united in marriage to Donald Matzner in York. 

    Peggy was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in York, the York Legion Auxiliary, Elks Club, Bridge Club, and led many fundraisers for the local ARC. She enjoyed camping, and taking vacation with lifelong friends, especially Rod & Emelie Armstrong, John & Maxine Broadwell, and Steve & Linda Pettygrove. Family was always the most important thing in Peggy’s life. She did the paperwork and accounting at the family-owned business, York Motor Company. Drove grain trucks during harvest and never failed to make an amazing meal at the end of the day.

    She is survived by her daughters Janet Matzner of Gresham, Julie (Chad) Hoffman of York, Jean Anne Matzner of York, daughter-in-law’s Kathy Matzner and Tina (Gene) Richards both of McCool Jct. Her grandchildren include Paige (Derek) McKenzie and their children Harper, Hudson and Hayes of York, Jacob Matzner of McCool Jct., Adam (Kira) Matzner and their children Nathan and Harrison, Jill (Shane) Myers, and Matthew Matzner all of Lincoln; and brother Dr. Richard Dearing, Niece Robin (Jason) Noordman of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and Nephew Kevin (Susan) Dearing of Pinawa, Manitoba, Canada

    She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia Kay Dearing, husband, sons Jerry and James, daughter Jo Anne, and grandsons Peyton and Parker Hoffman.

    Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, February 8, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Gresham.  COVID 19 Funeral Guidelines will be implemented with masks required. 

    Visitation will be held between 1:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, with the family greeting friends between 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., at the mortuary in York. Peggy’s service will be livestreamed on the First United Methodist Church’s website at http://yorkumc.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Peyton Parker Lane Playground/York Community Foundation, or to the church.
