Ray Bruns – Metz Mortuary

Ray Fred Bruns, age 90, of Waco, NE was called to his Heavenly Home on March 19, 2012 at the Friend Nursing Home.  He was born September 9, 1921 on a farm in Beaver Township, York County, NE to Fred W. and Louise (Kranz) Bruns.  Ray was a 1939 graduate of Waco High School and attended the American School of Commerce in Omaha, NE during 1940 and 1941.  He was a farmer, living on the location of his birth, until November 2010 when he became a resident of Friend manor.  On April 17, 1949, he married Marie Estella Pinneo at the First Christian Church in York, NE.  He was a life-time member of Ebenezer Methodist Church, Waco, NE.

​Ray is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter Bonnie and husband Galen Pieper of Wauwatosa, WI; son Stanley Bruns and wife Kathy (Grosor) of Beaver Crossing, NE.  Grandchildren include:  Heather and husband Darrell Allen of David City, NE, Jared Pieper and wife Lana of Pewaukee, WI, Jessica and husband Tim Heins of Tea, SD, Lindsey Pieper of Cudahy, WI, Andrea and husband Andrew Dey of Gresham, NE, Todd Pieper of Cudahy, WI, Danielle Bruns of Lincoln, NE.  Ray is also survived by nine great-grandchildren:  Madeline and Isabel Pieper of Pewaukee, WI, Spencer and Stanley Allen of David City, NE, Peyton, Olivia and Lincoln Heins of Tea, SD, and Dawson and Luke Dey of Gresham, NE.  He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ralph Bruns.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Metz Chapel, York, NE.  Burial will follow in York’s Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-9 pm Thursday and 9 am-9 pm Friday with the family greeting friends 6-8 pm.  Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
