He was born August 18, 1937 at Lushton, NE to Henry Rufus and Alice Lucille (Kistler) Battreall and graduated from Henderson High School. Dick was a longtime employee of Sunflower Carriers in York and was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church where he was a member in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was an avid toy train collector. On December 28, 1957 he was married to Barbara Walsh at York.
He is survived by his sons; Mark (Linda) Battreall of Ontario, California, Mike Battreall of Bradshaw, and Scott (Candace) Battreall of York. Three daughters; Mary Battreall and her special friend Russ Dickey of York, LuAnn (Brian) Norquest of Polk, NE and Susie (John) Kull of Prattville, AL; Daughter-in-law Cindy Battreall of Cortland, KS and a sister- in- law Aloha Battreall of North Platte, NE. 9 Grandchildren. 2 Great Grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brothers; Red (Sharon) Battreall of Chesterfield, N.J. and Ron (Elaine) Battreall of Lushton and his sister Linda (Gary) Loge of McCool Jct, NE. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, infant twin sons John and Jerome, his son Miles and a brother Bob.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with Monsignor James Reinert officiating. Private family inurnment to be held at a later time. There will be no Rosary Service. Visitation begins after 1:00 p.m. Monday and continuing thru Tuesday with his family greeting friends later that evening from 7-8:30 pm at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association.
