He was born Nov. 12, 1928 to Charles Orville and Genevieve (Crellen) Roush at Tingley, Iowa. Bob had resided in Chicago, Ill., Ottumwa, Iowa, Norfolk, Clinton, Iowa, Sioux City, Iowa and West Des Moines, Iowa before moving to York in 1996. He was united in marriage to Barbara E. Clark on Aug. 26, 1956 at Clinton, Iowa. Bob served in the Navy from 1949-1953.
Bob taught at the public high schools and adult education centers of Sioux City, Iowa; Clinton, Iowa and Northeast Community Schools. He later became a Program Specialist with the Iowa State Department of Education and became the Director of Driver Education and Motorcycle Rider Education for the state of Iowa.
Bob was a member of the Church of Christ in Sioux City, Iowa, Clinton, Iowa and Des Moines, Iowa and served as an elder for 20 years at the Southside Church of Christ. In York, he was a member of the East Hill Church of Christ during the last 17 years.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara, of York; son, Dr. Clark A. Roush and his wife Sue of York; daughter, Karen Kostowski and her husband Doug of Miami, Fla.; grandchildren, Matthew Roush and his wife Renee of Eagle, Mitchell Roush and his wife Marissa of Keller, Texas, Darren Cloud and his wife Nicole of Miami and a great grandson Liam Cloud also of Miami, Fla. Also surviving is a sister Mary and her husband Gerald Watkins of Panama City, Panama. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Upon Bob’s wishes, he has been cremated and there will be no services. Memorials may be directed to the York College Music Department.
