    ​Roger V. Howe, age 72, of York, NE died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in York, NE. He was born March 29, 1948 in Aurora, NE to Ronald C. and Rogene (Roark) Howe. On May 17, 1968, Roger was united in marriage to Beverly J. Stiles in Hastings, NE. Roger served his country in Vietnam as a member of the United States Army from 1968 – 1971.
     
    Roger retired as the owner of Howe’s Carpet Center in York. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, and VFW all in York. Roger loved working on his cabin, fishing, and grilling. He was known by all around town by his patriotic truck. But the most important thing to him was his family and especially his grandchildren. 
     
    He is survived by his wife Beverly of York, daughter Shauna (David) Becker of York, daughter-in-law Stephanie Howe of York, grandchildren Jacob Howe, Benjamin Howe, Tyler Howe, and Gabriel Becker all of York. He is also survived by his sister Sharon Jones of Central City, NE, and his brother Douglas (Susan) Howe of Hastings, NE.
     
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Anthony, one nephew and three nieces.
     
    Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Tony Dawson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-8pm on Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family to be shared with Viet Nam Veteran groups or to the donor’s choice. Roger’s service will be webcast live on Metz Mortuary’s Facebook Page.  COVID 19 Funeral Guidelines will be implemented with limited spaced seating (75% occupancy), 6 feet of separation between household units and masks required.
