He was born to Frances (Fenster) and Don Jackson on Sept. 3, 1931 in York. He graduated from Hampton High School and attended Doane College. Roger joined the Naval Air Reserves in 1950 before he began farming in the Bradshaw area. He loved to drive his diesel pusher motorhome and he and Jayne spent many summers touring the United States. They spent 28 winters in the Rio Grande Valley. Roger was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in York and the York American Legion #19.
Roger is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jayne (Miller) Jackson of York; children, Janet (Steve) Uetrecht of Lincon, son Jon (Susan) Jackson of Arizona, granddaughters, Haley Jackson of Lincoln and Lindsey (Cliff) Frisby of Arizona; great-grandson Jackson Frisby. Don was preceded in death by parents and a sister Marilyn Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2016 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 14th and Delaware, in York. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the funeral. Memorials may be directed to First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
