He was born Aug. 8, 1933, in Shenandoah, Iowa to Ernest and Opal (Niblick) Chase. Ron was a member of the US Navy and served during the Korean War. He worked at York Manufacturing Company until his retirement. He was married to Norma M. Gardner on Feb. 18, 1955 in Shenandoah. He was a member of the Firemen’s Association. Ron loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking walks, fishing camping, and gardening. He also enjoyed coin collecting and cracking walnuts.
Survivors include four children, Patricia Ann Chase of Geneva, Ronald Chase Jr., Adam (Heather) Chase of Bradshaw and Debra Lynn (Jay Willman) of Lincoln; grandchildren, Heather Marie of York, Alexis LeAnn of York, Morgan Wey of Council Bluffs, Brittny Lynn of Lincoln, Vincent Michael of Lincoln, Christopher Brian of Las Vegas, Leighton Prescott of Lincoln, Dammon Clark of Bradshaw, Darrian R. of York, Jeremy James of Lincoln and Scott Ian of Lincoln; 18 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); and one brother, Sterling (Pat) Chase of Omaha.
Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Norma; a still-born son; several brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at the Council Cemetery southwest of York. Ron has been cremated with no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to the local VA.
