    Ronald Lee Farley, 67, formerly of Gresham,NE, left us to cherish his memory on July 23, 2012 in York, NE.  Ron was born on July 26, 1944 in Stromsburg, NE, the youngest of four children, to Floyd and Nora (Lesuer) Farley.  On May 4, 1952 he was baptized at Gresham Presbyterian Church.  He attended Benedict school for nine years and graduated from Gresham High School in 1962.  He served in the Army in the Viet Nam war from January 1966 until being honorably discharged in January 1968.  Ron was a member of the American Legion Post 13 of Gresham.

    ​Ron spent his entire life in Gresham until moving to York in August of 2007.  The majority of his life was spent as a long distance truck driver.  Later, he did farm work for Doug and Larry Tonniges and Gary Neujahr.  He was a loving brother and uncle and thoroughly enjoyed his nine nieces and nephews.  He had a passion for hunting, fishing, fast cars, snowmobiles, and telling his stories.  He also took time to coach little league baseball in Gresham.

    Left to cherish his memory are his brother Allen (Dorothy) Farley of Thayer, NE; sister Donna (Smokey) Gonnerman of York; nieces and nephews Kevin (Sandy) Marsh of York, Janna Gustafson of Central City, NE, Lorri Marsh of Leakey, TX, Roxy Beck of Stromsburg, NE, Pete (Marv) Walbrecht of York, Scott (Barb) Gonnerman of Gresham, Julie (Ron) Salsman of York, Lynda (Kent) Erickson of Norfolk, NE, and Chris (Juli) Farley of Waco, NE; and fifteen grand nieces and nephews.  Preceding Ron in death were his parents, sister Shirley Brigham, and niece Carla Marsh.

    Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM, Friday July 27, 2012 at Metz Chapel in York. There will be a family graveside service at a later date.  Visitation will be held from 1-9 pm Wednesday and all day Thursday, with the family greeting friends from 7-8:30 pm Thursday evening.
