    Roy M. Bristol, 92, of Fairmont died Friday, April 25, 2003, in Fairmont. He was born Feb. 17, 1911, south of Waco to Oswald C. and  Minnie (Schilling) Bristol. He was a longtime farmer having farmed at various places including south of Waco, Charleston and Benedict areas.

    Roy was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in York, was a longtime 4-H leader at Waco, and served on various school boards. He was also a caretaker at the York County Fairgrounds and was currently a member of the Fairmont Community Church.
    He married Gwendolyrf ‘Avis’ Crowder on May 19, 1935, at Waco.

    Survivors include his four sons and their wives: David and Charlene Bristol of Fairmont, Jerry and Linda Bristol of Coredova, Norman and Monica Bristol of Exeter, and John and Winnie Bristol of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren; brothers, Milton and Iona Bristol of Waco and Richard and Irma Bristol of Aurora; many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Avis; a son, Robert; one brother and one sister.

    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Metz Chapel in York with the Rev. Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will begin Sunday at I p.m. at Metz Mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
