Russell Alan Smith, age 65 of Henderson, NE died on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Henderson. He was born on January 10, 1960 in Lincoln, NE to William and Lela Mae (Hillers) Smith. Russell had primarily worked in construction most of his life and had also worked at the Henderson Golf Course and was a Hunts Brothers Pizza Ambassador.
On June 24, 2000, he was united in marriage to Julie Morhain in Grand Island, NE.
Russell had attended Living Hope Church in Henderson. He enjoyed golfing, classic cars, and connecting with people. Known for his friendly spirit, he was a friend to everyone and truly never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife Julie Anderson Smith of Henderson, daughters: Stephanie Horn of Hastings, NE, Sarah (Tyson) Fesuluai of Grand Island, NE, and Shannon Smith (Phillip Raabe) of Lincoln, NE, stepchildren: Keisha (Aaron) McHargue of Lincoln, NE, Chris (Joyce) Anderson of Aurora, NE, and Lindsey Anderson of Omaha, NE; and thirteen grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Bill (Pat) Smith of Lincoln, NE, Mike (Deb) Smith of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and Steve Smith (Pollo Sahota) of Brentford, Ontario, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Friday, December 12, 2025 at Living Hope Church in Henderson with the Reverend Luke Haidle officiating. Following services, Russell will be cremated. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11 from 1-9pm, with family greeting friends from 6-8pm that evening, all at the mortuary in Henderson. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
