Steven A. Friesen – Metz Mortuary

    Steven A. Friesen, age 68 of Henderson, Nebraska, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Henderson, Nebraska.  He was born November 30, 1952, in Henderson, Nebraska to Donald I. and Ruth (Wach) Friesen. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1971. Steven and Seraphine, “Sera” (Dockter) were united in marriage on April 30, 1976 in Snohomish, Washington.  The union was blessed with three children: Jennifer A. Socha; Daniel A. Friesen and Mandy E. Colfack.

    ​Steven proudly served in the Navy on the USS Gridley.  He was a business owner of a video store in Washington. He also did fuel delivery for Central Irrigation, was a truck driver for York Cold Storage, and farmed with the Steingard family.  He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a proud grandpa and a devoted family man.  He was a fan of the Seahawks and Nebraska football. 

    Steven is survived by his wife, Seraphine of Henderson; daughter Jennifer (Stephen) Socha, grandchildren Andrew, Kyle, Nathan, Caleb, Jason, Michael, Tiffany, Peter and David of Lincoln; son Daniel (Darcy) Friesen, grandchildren George and Josephine “Josie” of Pella, Iowa; daughter Mandy (Casey) Colfack, grandchildren Amaya, Hannah, Madison, Mallory and Cyleigh of Lincoln.  He is also survived by his sister Julie (Ardean) Buller of Henderson, sister-in-law Josie (Doug) Nolte of Washington, brothers in law Darrell (Janet) Dockter of Washington, Terry Dockter of Missouri, Dwight Lamprecht and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, parents in law Eldo and Linora Dockter, brother-in-law Wally Dalthorp and sister-in-law Delphine Lamprecht.

    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson, with the Reverend Chelsea Vaught officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at the Friesen Cemetery, west of Henderson. Visitation will be from 1-9:00 p.m., on Thursday at the mortuary in Henderson.  His family will greet friends and neighbors from 6-8 p.m. that same evening at the mortuary.  Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
