Susan K. Curran, age 72 of York, NE passed away on March 4, 2026 in Lincoln, NE. She was born in Omaha, NE on July 30, 1953 and was adopted shortly thereafter by James C. and Meada M. Curran.
Sue was a 1971 graduate of York High School and attended Mounty Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota.
As a young adult Sue contracted a form of Muscular Dystrophy which left her confined to a wheel chair most of her life. Despite her condition, she still tried to maintain her independence.
She was involved in Yorkshire Playhouse and Friends of the Library. She loved music and was a gifted artist and writer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her birth mother, E Jane Stieb.
Sue is survived by her brother John (Dorothy) Curran of Denver, CO; sisters SR Mary Carole Curran OSB of Yankton, SD; and Jean (John) Wilcynski of York; and their son Jim of Omaha, NE.
No services are scheduled at this time. It was Sue’s wishes to be cremated. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to York Adopt-A-Pet or to the donor’s choice. Private family inurnment will be held at a later time.
