Thelma Laschanzky – Metz Mortuary

Thelma Laschanzky, age 89, of York, NE, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 in York.  She was born May 10, 1925 in York County, Nebraska to Christian and Hattie (Hansen) Williamsen.  Thelma was united in marriage to Jack Laschanzky on February 4, 1950 at Geneva, NE.  She was a waitress and cook in the York area and provided daycare in her home as well. Thelma was a member of First United Methodist Church in York.  She loved her family and enjoyed all their activities.

She is survived by three sisters, Rose Marie Payne of Ft. Worth, TX, Lucile Barton of Omaha, NE, and Betsy Reynolds of Denver, CO; one brother Chris (Kay) Andersen of Trenton, MO; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Thelma is also survived by her adopted granddaughters, Amber Pinney of Lincoln, NE and Megan Pinney of Columbus, NE; adopted great-granddaughters, Madelyn and Olivia Nielsen of Columbus; and close friends, Gary and Donna Pinney of York.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Jack in 1993; sisters, Doris Wagner and Geraldine Tutttle; brother Edward Williamsen; and two infant brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery in York.  There will be no viewing or visitation as it was Thelma’s wish to be cremated.  Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
