Wilbur C. Buck – Metz Mortuary

    Wilbur C. Buck 
    Wilbur C. Buck, age 83, of York, NE, was called home to heaven on Friday, March 28, 2008. He was born on June 27, 1924 at Garrison, NE to John C. and Marie (Naber) Buck. He was baptized on July 20, 1924 and confirmed in the Christian faith at St.
    John’s Lutheran Church at Waco, NE on April 24, 1938. Wilbur graduated from Waco High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from March 1946 to September 1947. He was united in marriage to Juanita Bredehoft on December 7, 1947 and they had just recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

    Wilbur was retired farmer, insurance agent, and crop adjuster. He was employed for a number of years by several crop/hail companies and enjoyed being out among the crops and making new friends as he traveled across the states of Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas, as an adjuster. He also liked being outdoors, watching sports, and restoring old tractors, and was a member of the American Legion Bolton Post #19.

    He is survived by his wife, Juanita, of York; daughters, Kathy (Rich) Hankel of York and Karen (Mike) Stahr of Marble Falls, TX; grandchildren, Jody (Ryan) Church of Gardner, KS, Jeff (Katie) Hankel of Gardner, KS, John (Mya) Hankel of Omaha, Kasey (Brandon) Belk of Kingsland, TX, and Shelly (Kurtis) Maxwell of Kingsland, TX; greatgrandchildren, Ashley Hankel and Erin Hankel of Omaha, Natalie Church of Gardner, KS, Halle Maxwell of Kingsland, TX, and Tyler Belk also of Kingsland. Also surviving are sister-in-law Gertrude Bredehoft of York, brother-in-law Les Gray of Waco and niece Deb Huffman of York.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; son John; sister-in-law Pauline Gray; and brother-in-law Roland Bredehoft.

    ​Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 3 1, 2008 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Waco, NE with the Reverend Charles Ramsey officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Waco Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary with the family greeting friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
