    Willard E. Bolton, age 77, of Benedict, went to his heavenly home, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Stromsburg. He was born March 28, 1932 in rural York County to Cecil M. and Helen J. (Bergstrand) Bolton. He was a graduate of Benedict High School in 1950.  Willard was a life long farmer in the Benedict area.  He had served on the Benedict Zion Lutheran Church council, Benedict Co-op Elevator Board, the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Board and was a member of the York County Feeder’s Association. Willard was baptized at the Benedict Zion Lutheran Church on April 16, 1933. He was received into adult membership in June of 1952 and was an active member until his passing. He and JoAnne Seymour were married on June 22, 1952. To this union, two children, Gregg Eugene and Pamela Martha, were born. Willard was a very loving and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed his family, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, traveling, playing cards, going to movies and having coffee with the guys.  Farming was his passion and occupation.

    Willard is survived by his wife, JoAnne of Benedict; son, Gregg and his wife, LuAnn Bolton of Benedict; daughter, Pamela and her husband Scott Owens of Avondale, AZ; mother, Helen Bolton of York and sister, Virginia (Noel) Kealiher also of York. Willard had four grandchildren, Sara (Chad) Rademacher of Sioux Falls, SD, Susan (Jeff) Waller of Stromsburg, Alex Owens of Everett, WA, and Ryan Owens of Lincoln. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Lillie and Ethan Rademacher and Tobey and Adrienne Waller; three nephews; five nieces, and other relatives and friends.

    ​Preceding him in death were his father, two nephews, father-in-law and mother-in-law, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Benedict, NE. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, west of Benedict.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday at Metz Mortuary with the family greeting friends from 4 – 6 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
