Willard R. Kemmet, age 88 of York, NE, died Thursday, June 19, 2025 in York, NE. He was born on May 14, 1937 to George and Alma (Gunsch) Kemmet in Bismark, ND. On December 18, 1960 he was united in marriage to Joann Morelock in Dawson, ND.
Willard was an Army Veteran and a powerline worker. He was employed with Dominion Construction Inc for 40 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He also was a member of York Elks Club, York Eagles Club, and the American Legion. Willard enjoyed betting on horses, attending auctions, dancing, fishing, gardening, and he loved helping York area farmers.
He is survived by his wife Joann, son Steve (LA) Kemmet of Boerne, TX, grandchildren Christian (Meghan) Wagner of Kansas City, MO, Garrett Wagner of Midwest City, OK, and Savannah Wagner of Richmond, VA, brother Gary (Lynn) Kemmet of Grand Island, NE, sisters Deb (Dick) Sperle of Napoleon, ND, and Jackie (Ken) Borchers of Bismark, ND, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Evelyn and brother-in-law JR Kalainov.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2025 at the York Elks Club. Willard was cremated. No viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to York Elks scholarship fund.
