Zackery Taylor Johnson was born on February 19, 1993 in York, NE, to Gretchen L. Reetz and Mickey L. Johnson. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer, NE on March 21, 1993. He continued his Christian education at Emmanuel Faith Lutheran School in York. Zack was confirmed on May 4, 2008 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. He graduated from York High School in 2012. Zack passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Zack loved soccer of any kind. He became a member of the American Outlaws Chapter #1 in Lincoln. One of his most favorite memories was attending the USWNT exhibition match in Denver in 2019. Zack managed to talk his way into playing the drums with American Outlaws Band and made it onto the Jumbotron with them. Zack also loved skateboarding, especially with buddy Keagan. Zack loved movies, he could tell you anything about almost every movie.
Mostly Zack really loved his family. He enjoyed hanging with the Reetzs from being at the Midway on Saturday afternoons, to being at Julie and Dave’s farm, or going to cousin Mark’s house in Iowa for family reunions.
Since becoming an uncle in October 2025, Zack loved watching his niece Murphy Mae, whether it was an hour, or all day on the Saturday before his death, any chance he could he would take it.
Zackery is survived by his parents, both of Lincoln, his sister Hailey Mae Johnson (Samuel Ihrie), and his niece Murphy Mae Ihrie, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Paul and Gayle Reetz, and paternal grandparents Delbert and Helen Johnson.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Inurnment is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. the same day in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Thayer, NE. Zackery has been cremated. There is no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to future college expenses for Murphy Mae Ihrie, Zack’s newborn niece.
